the Oriental Circlet) still in the possession of the Queen Mother, it seems logical that the commission was aimed to fill a ruby tiara hole in Her Majesty's collection. The queen needed something of her own to go along with the ruby jewelry she had accumulated. (She's now inherited the Crown rubies since the Queen Mother's death; below on the right she combines them with this tiara.)
What do you say: a misuse of gems, or just perfect?
