Royal Outfits of the Day: Swedish Royals at Parliament & More

It was Sweden's turn to open parliament this week, with the Swedish royal family present as always.

Embed from Getty Images
The ladies do a black and white (and shades thereof, in this case) dress code, which is reminiscent of the black and white court dress worn decades ago. This year that led to Crown Princess Victoria wearing a Paule Ka top she's worn previously to this same event. I'm half wishing Princess Sofia's jacket had a beige bottom, thereby completing the fake out crop top effect. Just for kicks.

The looks were likewise tame for the evening's concert. Feels a little more day attire than it usually does, really just shiny fabrics here to differentiate. Except for Victoria's metallic Escada dress, which has been worn multiple times in the past.

Kungl. Hovstaterna
While we're in Sweden: Princess Sofia attended a board meeting for Sophiahemmet yesterday and this look might have caught my eye more than the parliament stuff did. Nothing says cozy like a giant smocked velvet turtleneck, amirite? Cozy or claustrophobic, depending on your turtleneck tolerance. You be the judge.

Royal Outfits of the Day: The Duchess of Cambridge's Last Two

The last two days of engagements for Kate were her last before maternity leave, Kensington Palace announced. Behold:

The Duchess of Cambridge and The Royal Foundation hosted a symposium on early intervention on Wednesday.

One more bespoke Jenny Packham for the road, in shades of Easter basket stuffing with a bow on top! A divisive bow, it seems, as bows on clothes tend to be.

Kensington Palace
But without the bow, there's not much too it. It adds interest and it's not too twee. A thumbs up from me.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge undertook engagements celebrating the Commonwealth on Thursday, ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London next month.
Kensington Palace
And here we have a repeated GOAT coat and a new Hobbs London top paired with a skinny trouser and heels, a perfect basic outfit shape that can work in so many different situations.

It's cute!

Royal Christmas of the Day: December 27

I hope everyone had/is having a happy holiday! We have, as always, some Windsor fashions to chat about, courtesy of their traditional Christmas church parade.

Parades, this year. The Cambridges spent their Christmas with Kate's side, but they still brought along their family coordination act. Accessorizing with a faux fur collar and the best pair of shoes she debuted this year was an instant upgrade for Kate's repeated Hobbs coat.

The rest of the fam marched to church at Sandringham without the Queen, who had a heavy cold. (Her Christmas broadcast has been covered at the Vault, of course.) I think they put on a fairly chic show, though:

I'm all for the Duchess of Cornwall and Autumn Phillips leading the way in their chic blue coats - and for some more extra fur at the collar. Camilla accessorized with her sapphire and diamond butterfly brooch.

As per usual, I find that the York sisters' hats bear little relation to the rest of their outfits, but in this case, these coats - chic though they are - could use a little pepping up.

Refreshingly ditching the coat in a cozy wool-blend knit dress from Azzedine Alaïa (per the Countess of Wessex Blog), the Countess of Wessex was a standout in red. The drama of the Jane Taylor hat - which I'll wager we'll see again at Ascot some day - makes the outfit without taking it over, thanks to the black color choice. Definitely my Christmas best. Et toi?

Royal Fashion Awards: Royal Ascot 2015, Days 2 & 3

We took a day off from our Ascot coverage, so let's play catch up with a big roundup of royal racegoers:

Best in Gents
The Duke of Edinburgh (Days 2 and 3)
Ascot is my annual time to give the dapper Duke his due. His top hats are "antique", as the Royal Hats Blog explains, which in this case means they're his from fifty years ago. (Princess Anne: "SEE?") For her part, the Queen delighted me with another amazing brooch from Queen Victoria, Prince Albert's Sapphire, and then did an abrupt 180 the next day in a probably modern and hardly as lavish piece, the Shamrock Brooch. I like to think she just wanted us to save up our jumpy claps, knowing that the Duchess of Cornwall was about to pile on pounds of diamonds that evening. Her Maj is gracious like that. (Oh yes, Camilla had a BIG tiara appearance and it is covered at the Vault!)

Best in Comebacks
Princess Beatrice (Day 3) and the Princess Royal (Day 2)
We might as well call this the Triumph of the White Dresses category, because both of these ladies used that simplicity for accessory success after accessory semi-disasters on Day 1. Beatrice continued to play with color - and with handbags - and I adore it. I also adore Anne with a scarf draped gracefully over her shoulders.
Beatrice's dress from Beulah London, hat from Laura Apsit Livens

Biggest Statements in Patterns
Princess Alexandra (Day 2) and The Princess Royal (Day 3)
Alexandra will win you over to her festival of paisley with her cheery smile and her festive hat trim; Anne will simply dare you compare her to a luxury carpet with her steely gaze. But they both come out pretty well in the end.

Biggest Statement in Feathers
Princess Michael (Day 2) and The Countess of Wessex (Day 3)
Positively swashbuckling, these two - in other words, perfect for Ascot. Well done. (The Countess of Wessex Blog explains that Sophie's Jane Taylor hat looks like a slight remix from a previous Ascot appearance, with some extra stuff added. Can't ever get enough extra stuff to stick on your Ascot hat.)

Best in Couture
Princess Haya (Day 2) and Princess Marie-Chantal (Day 3)
Princess Haya continued her couture Ascot run in Chanel Couture with a Philip Treacy hat, and on Ladies' Day, Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece joined in the fun also in Chanel Couture and Philip Treacy. I have to say, it's a good combo.
Haya's suit modified from Spring 2015; Marie-Chantal's jacket from Spring 2011

Best in Forehead-Bolters
The Countess of Wessex (Day 2), Autumn Phillips (Day 2), and Princess Eugenie (Day 3)
I was expecting to like this latest batch of Ascot fashions so much. (It is Friday, perhaps I'm feeling generous.) I don't even mind a round of my least favorite sort of hat, the one that doesn't cover much of your head except for maybe parts of your vision because hey who needs that. I like all these three! Sophie's all stripey, Autumn's all springy, and Eugenie's all swingy.
Emilia Wickstead for Sophie; Hobbs for Autumn (h/t Countess of Wessex Blog); Peter Pilotto dress and Helmut Lang blazer for Eugenie
Bonus points to Eugenie for picking just the right shape of blazer to add to that dress. I think this is my favorite Eugenie outfit in a long time, which makes the York sisters my day 2 and 3 faves, which is also something that hasn't happened in a long time. Stranger things have happened at sea...

Royal Coats of the Week: March 13

COATS. Loads of them. Let's take a gander (and you might want to pop back to yesterday's Cheltenham post, which had a late update with day 3 attendees, while we're in coat mode):

Yesterday was Crown Princess Victoria's name day, and Princess Estelle joined her in the courtyard for the festivities.
TWO PURPLE COATS! A duo after my own heart and also my jumpy claps. (Estelle's coat is new from Swedish brand Livly, by the way.)

Well, I'm done, that's all I need right there, but we'll soldier on for your sake, okay?
Where there be coats, there be the Duchess of Cambridge, obviously. For a visit to the set of Downton Abbey, a new cream maternity coat from JoJo Maman Bebe. And you can pretty much just copy/paste whatever I said for her last winter white coat here, because I like them all.
Racking up the appearances before her maternity leave, she was also out in Margate on Wednesday (and she'll be out today and some next week, and I'm sure we'll be getting to all of that in due time) (DUE time, guys) (heh) (I'm so glad it's Friday, forgive me):
YAY for the return of the Hobbs animal print coat from her last maternity adventure. I like a simple coat in a divine white, but I also like a statement coat - especially when one is prone to basics in the accessory department.

We haven't featured much of Mette-Marit's current events lately, because most of them have been of a quite practical nature, sartorially speaking. Like so:
Here she is attending Kindergarten Day in Oslo this week. This is all fine and good for an outdoor coffee klatch with your wee friends, I get enough of the practical dressing in my actual life if you know what I mean, so I'll give it a pass. But she was just spotted in a rather fetching red trench, so maybe things are looking up.

And this has been your weekly coat report.

Royal Outfit(s) of the Day: April 23

Video: The Cambridges visited Elizabeth (the suburb, named for the Queen) as the Australian leg of their tour continued.
Time for another drive-by peek at the royal tour! Simply put: this is pretty. Soft pink separates, with a v-neck and a bit of fullness in the skirt to add some interest. And McQueen, so obviously impeccably fit. Lovely. Here's a look from the Daily Mail.
The day before, they visited Uluru, where Kate arrived in a Roksanda Ilincic dress hilariously similar - but different - from one she already owns. Later, she brought back a dress from Hobbs that I have always liked and wore a necklace given to her while there. Here's a piece from PopSugar.

Video: Their visit to Uluru.
The fashion news here belongs to William, though - he didn't wear blue! He wore khaki. Big day, kids.

Royal Outfit of the Day: March 18

Video: The Duchess of Cambridge, along with the Duke of Cambridge, presented shamrocks to the Irish Guards on St. Patrick's Day. She wore a green coat from Hobbs with a Gina Foster hat and green shoes.
There's an ever-so-slight difference in greens here, notably between the hat and the coat - not different enough to be intentional, not quite alike enough to pass the daytime lighting test - and it makes me twitchy. It's an annoying nitpick, I know, and it's not even evident in different light, but this is one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of super matchy accessories. (Not as evident in the video, thank heavens, but click here for picture overload from the Daily Mail.)
Behind her shamrock is the Cartier shamrock brooch dating back to Queen Alexandra in 1901 that has been worn since by royal ladies for Irish Guards engagements.
However! This coat length looks even better on Kate than it does on the model, so kudos.

Weekly Royal Fashion Awards: June 9-15

Best in Day (Casual)
Crown Princess Mary

Video: Mary participates in the Free from Bullying Race
Oh, I do enjoy a bit of Casual Mary.

Best in Day (Regular)
Crown Princess Victoria
Letizia welcomes Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan to Spain with the rest of the family; Victoria at a conference and holding an audience; Mette-Marit on an engagement with Queen Sonja
Letizia in brights and Mette-Marit in something that matches are always bonuses, but these simple dresses suit Victoria so perfectly, I'm willing to overlook the aggressively matching blue shoes (pet peeve alert).

Best in Day (Fancy)
Queen Máxima
Máxima making more province visits; Catherine naming a ship
Big hats and big jewels always win. That's just the way it is. (Proper big hats, though, not the ones just attempting to set records for fabric yardage piled on one hat, to be clear.)

Best in Evening
Princess Letizia
Mary at the opening of the House of Foreign Industry; Letizia at a concert and dinner for Naruhito; Mathilde at the opera
I really didn't like Letizia's gown when she wore it at Victoria's wedding back in 2010 - and yet, suddenly, I'm charmed. Why, hmm? Better hair now, a softer look? Maybe I just appreciate a little Swedish wedding throwback after we missed her at Madeleine's party.

Weekly Royal Fashion Awards (and Bonus Tiara Watch!): March 3-9

Best in Kids
The Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Letizia
Kate visiting the city of Grimsby; Letizia opening INDESA 2010, at a tribute concert for victims of terrorism, and attending World Rare Diseases Day
What interested me the most this past week for these two? The kids. That would be the princess and the nose picker for Kate, and the double dose of infantas for Letizia while visiting King Juan Carlos in the hospital for his most recent surgery. Hey, we didn't get any Estelle this week, and I'm in withdrawal.

Best in Surprises
Princess Mathilde
Visiting the province of Vlaams-Brabant; visiting La Hulpe
I was surprised to see Mathilde in this suit - somehow it feels like we've been seeing the same old stuff from her for a while now - and I was even more surprised to see that I like it so much. And then we were back to some of the same old, but thankfully it was one of the better ones from the same old category.

Most Dubious Accessorizing
Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Princess Victoria
Mette-Marit accompanies King Harald to open celebrations for 100 years of women's suffrage in Norway; Victoria receives the speaker of the Lithuanian parliament
That's just a lot of business happening there, on Mette-Marit. Lovely pieces on their own, together...not so much. And I like Victoria's earrings, and that's about it. But she gets a pass, as her dark clothing turned out to be sadly appropriate.

Speaking of dark clothing, I'm throwing in a bonus Tiara Watch post here, as Sweden held a tiara event on Monday. The state visit from the President of Turkey was already postponed once (it was supposed to be in September), so the show had to go on despite the unfortunate timing just one day after Princess Lilian's death. I'm sure she of all people understood that the show must go on.
The visit is being conducted in mourning, so black clothes it was. Victoria is wearing the brooch she wore the day of her engagement press conference, which was a gift from Lilian, and which makes me a little teary.
The brooch from Lilian
The gala dinner was still sparkling, tiaras and all. Proper mourning jewelry (pieces made in jet and the like, for the days when mourning lasted months and attire was extremely restricted) is gone from many royal collections these days; mourning periods aren't as official and extensive as they once were. The Swedish ladies at the gala dinner did a modern take: black dresses, and a mix of their regular jewels.

Video: The gala dinner
Silvia wore the Pronger, Princess Christina wore the Four Button Tiara, and Victoria wore the Cut Steel Bandeau. A little selection of three of my least favorite Swedish jewels, but appropriate nevertheless, particularly Victoria's steel choice (plus, she is again wearing Lilian's brooch).

Who did you like last week?

Royal Olympic Update: Days 1 and 2

The royals didn’t just come for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, oh no. Some meandered around London pre-Games and most have played the cheerleader in the first two days of heavy competition. Let's take a quick peek at a few of the things our royals have been up to, shall we?

Prior to the Games, William, Harry and Catherine capitalized on Olympic Fever to launch a sporty new initiative for their charity and then donned their official gear to greet the Olympic torch at Buckingham Palace. I like Kate’s dress at the first event, but obviously I like her escorts even better.
Other members of the host royal family have been out and about so far. The Queen paid a quick visit to the Olympic Park on Saturday before heading off for her Balmoral break – you can see those details on my other blog. Charles and Camilla met some cyclists while Mike Tindall checked out the equestrian venue on Saturday. A full royal turnout was in order on Sunday for Zara Phillips’ Olympic debut, including the Duke of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal. Something tells me Anne’s running her own Olympic contest for the number of Olympic-themed pieces of clothing and accessories she can get on at one time. Can she top this upturned cupcake wrapper of a hat in the days to come? Oh, the suspense is just too much. (Yes, that’s Princess Benedikte there, in the middle of the Windsor sandwich. Her daughter Nathalie will be competing in the days to come. Princess Haya could also be spotted around the horse events, only fitting as she is the President of the FEI.)
Benedikte joins a large Danish contingent of Margrethe, Henrik, Frederik, and Mary who are bopping around to as many events as possible and are bunking on their royal yacht which they’ve parked on the Thames. (You know, as you do.)
(Not to be missed as well are Mary’s fun with Charlene and her most excellent shoes from the second day. WANT.)
Hanging out near the rest of the royal crew were the Greek royals. King Constantine (a former Olympic gold medalist himself) and Queen Anne-Marie had their son Philippos with them on the first day.
More former Olympians – Albert and Charlene – have been out and about as expected. A cocktail party shindig yielded a somewhat, erm, interesting dress for Char while yesterday’s poolside gear was far more typical.
Perhaps the most impressive turnout so far comes from Luxembourg, a family full of cuteness like father/daughter cuddles and dads armed with cameras. (The royals: they’re just like us! Their dads make them take family photos in public too!)
Philippe and Mathilde from Belgium have been in London since a bit before the main competitions started with their brood of four little cherubs in tow. They used the opportunity to give their annual family photo call a British backdrop before hitting the events.
The expressive and cuddly Norwegians, Haakon and Mette-Marit, are also in the house in their Team Norway gear. But they have competition in the field of the most enthusiastic royal family, because the Oranges are in the house too.
Not only are Willem-Alexander and Máxima hanging around with their three daughters, they’ve also been spotted bringing Luana and Zaria – daughters of injured Prince Friso and Princess Mabel – along. (Heartwarming.) And, bonus, they ran into their Belgian friends!

The Games are rolling on…days and days of sporty royal sightings remain. Delightful. What's your favorite sighting so far?

Week in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge, 12-18 February

Week in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge, 26 June - 2 July, Part 2

If you need a refresher, here's where we left off with The Adventures of Kate and Wills in Canada. Now, to finish out the week through Saturday:

1. Canada Day, 1 July, a) Kate's outfit, b) the Maple Leaf Brooch, c) the red shoes, d) the dress from Reiss, e) the hat from Lock and Company, f) the clutch from Anya Hindmarch.
Confession: I'm disappointed. If there was a day to get a new dress, and make it from a Canadian designer, today would have been the day! It's Canada Day! I can't help but think that it looks like she planned on repeating the Reiss dress from her engagement photographs, and at the last minute, panicked and realized it wasn't Canadian enough. Cue the red shoes and stuck-on maple leaves in the hat. There's just a lot going on here.

2. Evening concert on Canada Day, 1 July, a) on Kate, b) the dress from Issa, worn with Prada pumps and another Anya Hindmarch clutch, and c) the maple leaf brooch again with diamond earrings.
After the Maple Leaf Brooch (on loan from the Queen, also worn by the Queen Mother and the Duchess of Cornwall) spent most of the day underneath Kate's hair, she threw it in the evening mix with an updo (yes!) and a purple Issa dress. This one I like standing up, not sitting down. (Weird, right? That's me.)

3. Day 3 of the Canada trip, 2 July, a) the Kensington dress from Catherine Walker with an Anya Hindmarch clutch, b) the back detail (with a bonus precious wee one), c) gamely sporting a chef's coat, d) the shoes, and e) swapping to black Prada shoes and a black Anya Hindmarch clutch.
A brand new designer on parade: Catherine Walker, she of my favorite Diana gown ever (and Carole Middleton's wedding outfit and so much more). A savvy choice, as Walker was French. I love the sweet sleeve and neckline details, and you know I love the first shoes of the day. But later she switched back to basic black, leaving me to wonder if they were uncomfortable or if she (gasp!) got them muddy in a tree planting haze. I long for an updo, though. There was a lot of hair flicking, even more than usual, what with the planting and meeting kids and playing chef, plus the back detail of the dress really deserves to fly on its own.

And now I'd like to give a shout out to an unsung fashion star on this trip so far: Prince William.
Two cases in point: lookin' good at the concert, and pulling a Barack by losing the jacket while on a hospital visit. I like to spread the praise around, you know.

Yes, I know this doesn't bring us up to everything she's worn so far, but you'll have to sit tight. In the mean time, did any of these three tickle your fancy?

Non-Royal Fashion Awards: More Guests at the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge's Wedding

With 1900 guests in attendance, much of the hot and hot mess in fashion lay outside of the Windsors and their royal friends. Talking about non-royal fashion isn't a regular topic around here, but I figure anybody with a golden ticket to this wedding knew precisely the attention they could draw with their outfits. Which means: everybody's fair game. Here are a few of the guests that caught my attention:

Best of the Spencers
Karen Gordon
Left to Right: Lady Kitty Spencer; Lady Eliza Spencer; Lady Amelia Spencer; Karen Gordon, fiancée of Earl Spencer
Members of Diana's family were plentiful in the Abbey, but the greatest attention draw seems to have been the Earl Spencer and his brood. Out of his phalanx of blond daughters, Kitty raised the most eyebrows in her painted-on Victoria Beckham sheath, which turned out to be more cleavage-tastic than she may have realized under the overhead Abbey cameras. Personally, I like it. (True confession: if I looked like that, I'd probably take a "decency be damned" approach to clothes too.) But my favorite was the Lady With No Face, also known as Karen Gordon. As the second fiancée the Earl's had in the past year, she ended up on the receiving end of more than a few commentary jokes, but she herself was pure class in her well-cut rose outfit and matching hat. A total win.

Best of the Exes
Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe
L to R: Arabella Musgrave, Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, Jecca Craig
It has to be a tricky assignment, picking a wedding outfit if you're among the ex- and rumored-to-be-ex paramours of Prince William. What should you wear for your inevitable turn in the ''it could have been me'' tabloid features? Jecca Craig went the simple and business-like route, while Arabella Musgrave no doubt won bonus points at work for flying a big red Gucci flag (yes, she works for Gucci). Personally, I liked Isabella Calthorpe best: well-coordinated and plenty fancy in British design, even though it does have a bit of a potential maternity wear flair (and was worn by two other ladies as well - oops!).

Best in Maternity
Marina Fogle
L to R: Victoria Beckham; an unidentified pregnant guest; Marina Fogle, wife of Ben Fogle; the woman many named as Jacqui Ainsley, girlfriend of Guy Ritchie, but appears to be Isabella Calthorpe
It must have been a long day for the pregnant wedding guests, arriving way before the ceremony to sit in a hard chair and be deprived of loo access for hours on end. Which is why Victoria Beckham's outfit received an even bigger eye roll than usual from me: her ridiculousness doesn't rest for any occasion, does it? I do believe her only concession to the fact that she's with child was having Christian Louboutin specially place higher platforms than usual in her 6 inch heels. My attention was also caught by a random guest in purple when I couldn't figure out if she'd received an evening party invitation and just didn't want to change her outfit, or if she just didn't feel like buying something wedding-appropriate. {UPDATE: many photo agencies identified the fourth lady as the pregnant girlfriend of Guy Ritchie, and that's what I had her down as initially. I'm now fairly certain it's just Isabella Calthorpe again. So, ignore. It's all very confusing.} So the best in maternity wear for me went to Marina Fogle, who was smashing in bright green, and used a jacket over a fitted dress approach to avoid looking like she was wearing a Beckham-esque tent.

Worst of the Politician's Wives
Miriam González Durántez
L to R: Samantha Cameron, wife of Prime Minister David Cameron; Sally Bercow, wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow; Miriam González Durántez, wife of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg; Justine Thornton, fiancée of Labour Party leader Ed Miliband
It may have been a shining moment for the British royal family, but it was most certainly not one for the British political machine. Well, at least in the sartorial spouse category. These ladies bring up an important question: what's the greatest sartorial offense? Is it pretending as though you don't care, as though you're above something you find silly and ceremonial, by blatantly defying dress code and convention? (Ahem, Sam Cam and her ridiculous little NOT HAT Erdem clip.) Is it refusing to bend to the laws of decency, no matter what the occasion, like Mrs. Bercow's chest and thigh? Is it the sad case of a woman that probably thought she left the house looking stylish but really left wearing a deflated navy hot air balloon, as in the case of the future Mrs. Miliband? Those are all valid choices, but I cast my vote for something else: the attention-grabbing costume. Is there really any political advantage to making headlines by wearing the remains of a 1950s petticoat and a fortune teller turban with flowers smacked on, Mrs. Clegg?

Best of the Worst
Chelsy Davy
L to R: Sir Trevor Brooking's wife Hilkka, Tom Bradby's wife Claudia, the private wedding photographer Millie Pilkington, Chelsy Davy, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and sister Santa Sebag Montefiore
In a crowd this large, you're bound to have plenty of hot messes to raise your eyebrows at. Among those that caught my eye was Mrs. Brooking, in her long and overly fancy My Fair Lady dress in bridesmaid purple. The giant antennae on Mrs. Bradby's hat stood out during the broadcast, and in the pictures her loose dress and apparent trench coat accessory solidified her place on my worst-dressed list. Surprising for a woman in the fashion industry (Claudia works for Jigsaw and used to work with Kate, and her husband conducted the couple's engagement interview). I had trouble concentrating on our first glimpses of the bride with her photographer running around looking like...that. (Is that a homemade dress? Has to be, right?) And of course Tara Palmer-Tomkinson came dressed for press as the aristocratic set's resident Smurf. Her sister Santa didn't fare much better, pairing her summer dress with a fur wrap and a satellite dish primed for flower reception. But the worst of all, for me, was Chelsy Davy. How on earth is it possible to take a custom Alberta Ferretti outfit (Alberta Ferretti being one of the queens of feminine, classy clothing) and make it look like that? You can't dress yourself in to class, I guess.

Best of the Top Tier
Sunetra Sastry
L to R: Ffion Jenkins, wife of William Hague; Sunetra Sastry, wife of Rowan Atkinson; Joss Stone
Of all the guests that got it just right, I felt Ffion Jenkins deserved a top tier mention. Anybody that matches their cast to their outfit shows a dedication worthy of the best list. Pop star Joss Stone earned a few comments from you all earlier, and I completely agree: this is understated and perfect. But my favorite from all the pictures was Mrs. Bean herself, Sunetra Sastry. A gorgeous navy suit with just enough detail paired with classy nude accessories? Total win. Plus, her name is awesome. Sunetra Sastry. (I'll award points for whatever I want, thankyouverymuch).

Best of the Best
Carole Middleton
No question, Mrs. M. deserves her own category. Poor Carole's taken so much flack from impressions built about her based on assumption alone, and I have to say I was cheering for her when she turned up and got it so right. It's flattering, it has just the right amount of detail without being too much, and it's elegant as can be. Yet another successful moment in Mother of the Bride history.

Which guests caught your eye - for the good or for the bad?
