Royal Outfits of the Day: Easter in Windsor

Easter Sunday and the Windsors flock to Windsor for service at St. George's Chapel. Get your Easter bonnets on:

Of course the Queen (and her brooch) have already been covered in full at the Vault. Joining her on the pearl brigade was the Duchess of Cambridge, with a repeated brooch. Now that we've seen in her a few more brooches, I can't help but wish this faux-looking one would go away. The repeated brown Catherine Walker coat can stay, though! Elegant as it was the first time.

Embed from Getty Images
There's a lot to love from the rest of this bunch. The Princess Royal's crowd represented very well, from Anne's jolly feather explosion to Autumn Phillips' sleek Suzannah coat and Zara Tindall's coordinated blues.

Embed from Getty Images
Also a great show from the Wessex ladies here. I don't think anyone in this fam particularly needs another navy blue coat, but adding some sleeve interest à la Sophie and her Roland Mouret coat is a way to make it interesting. I assume she took that off before tucking into whatever form of very posh cheesy potatoes you get at an Easter lunch at Windsor Castle.

The York sisters might be my favorites of this whole crew. Princess Beatrice has adopted these boater hats worn at a jaunty angle; with her success at last year's Trooping the Colour and this Easter combo (with a Suzannah coat), I gotta say it really works for her.

Princess Eugenie did some splendid hat work here, too. An Easter service that can double as a wedding venue scouting trip must be more fun than it is most years, so why not throw a party at the bottom of your coat? (This party's by Oscar de la Renta.) Carrying the party all the way to the top of the look with a pink hat was just right.

A good show all around, right? Well done, Windsors.

Royal Color Scheme of the Day: British Royals on Commonwealth Day

So many of you were hoping Meghan Markle would use her appearance at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey yesterday as a chance to inject some vibrant color into her wardrobe...but as it turns out, basically the entire Windsor family united against your cause. I had to laugh.

ITV screencap
Navy blue for you and you and you! The Queen, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal, Princess Alexandra, the Countess of Wessex, and the Duchess of Gloucester all showed up to create a sea of blues. Navy with the classic cream combo by a few, with just a couple light blues stuck in there for relief.

BBC screencap
All except for the Queen, who was classy in mulberry and rubies - repping Australia with that brooch - and was covered in full yesterday at the Vault.

Embed from Getty Images
Meghan's contribution to the navy theme came in the form of a navy Amanda Wakeley dress, a cream Amanda Wakeley coat, and a Stephen Jones hat. A sophisticated look, methinks. Kate went all in on the navy with a Beulah London ensemble, itself a veteran of church service occasions, and a Lock & Co. hat.

Westminster Abbey
The Duchess gave this coat the touch it needed by adding a brooch, always a delightful surprise from her. It's a delicate multi-colored floral bouquet, and I don't recognize it as anything the Queen has worn. She wore it with the earrings she debuted recently, earrings I speculated might match the Queen's Sapphire and Ruby Flower Spray Brooch. However, I now think they're probably a pair with this brooch instead. (What Kate Wore has shared some close ups.)

Embed from Getty Images
Full navy for Sophie, too, in a repeated hat - another piece that's a veteran from many a special occasion - and Stella McCartney coat (per the Countess of Wessex Blog). I'm actually glad for the beige accessories here, they pull in the hat ornamentation and give some relief to all the blue.

Westminster Abbey
Joining Meghan on the navy and cream theme were Camilla and Anne. Every outfit Camilla has in this color combo - and there are plenty of them - is sharp as can be, and I love the detail on this jacket. (She's wearing her Four Strand Pearl Choker with Small Diamond Clasp.) Anne's been rocking this coat since 1980, because of course she has, but she's kindly brought it into the current century with a fresh hat. (I mean, it's still a repeated hat, let's not get crazy.)

Embed from Getty Images
Lightening up the blue side of this family color scheme, we have Princess Alexandra, as always looking like an elegant picture from really any decade in the past century...

Westminster Abbey/BBC screencaps
...and the Duchess of Gloucester, unfortunately laying low in most coverage. This is also a faultless color for Birgitte, though the apparent tall black boots will certainly get the hmm... treatment from me.

Royal Gathering of the Day: The Belgians and British Mark the Passchendaele Centenary

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a two day trip to Belgium on Sunday and Monday to join the King and Queen of the Belgians for events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the beginnings of the Battle of Passchendaele, or the Third Battle of Ypres, in World War I. On Sunday, they attended the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate Memorial.

Sgt Ross Tilly/MOD Crown Copyright 2017
We have our little fashion wheelhouse here, and this is one of the times when everything passes muster in a "let's not talk about the fashion too much" sort of way. That's precisely what you want. The Duchess paired up two repeats for the first events, her Alexander McQueen coat from Princess Charlotte's christening and her hat from Trooping the Colour 2015. She also wore a brooch she's used in the past.

Sgt Ross Tilly/MOD Crown Copyright 2017
The Queen chose a new outfit with a lace coat over a satiny dress, topped by a new Philip Treacy hat. It's a nice choice for an event that went into the evening, but still included full hats (which are usually more of a daytime thing).

Belgian Monarchy
The Prince of  Wales joined the group on Monday at Tyne Cot Cemetery. Sir Timothy Laurence, husband of the Princess Royal, was there for both days; he is Vice Chairman of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Once again, I think it basically checks out, sartorially speaking. The second day saw a new lace-topped dress from Natan appeared for Queen Mathilde, with a hat from Fabienne Delvigne. For the Duchess, it was a new Catherine Walker coat dress.

What intrigues me here is Kate's use of jewels, because I think jewel selections can help to convey, in a quiet manner, events of greater significance. The Duchess of Cambridge wore brooches on both days. While she's not a newcomer to brooches and while they definitely serve a functional purpose here - securing her traditional poppy for remembrance - they're enough of a step out of the usual to make it special.
Her brooch on the second day is a new loan to her from the Queen, the Pearl and Diamond Leaf Brooch, which I've covered at the Jewel Vault (not that there's much to say about it, it's kind of a mystery). She added in the Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings from Diana, Princess of Wales, which she debuted at the Spanish state banquet. I'd call it adding a layer of gravitas to the ensemble, a wholly appropriate thing for such an event. Respectfully well played.

Royal Outfits of the Weekend: Cambridges in Paris (Updated)

Yes, that's right, this is a weekend post; you have not fallen through a time warp, or severely messed up your Daylight Saving Time adjustments. The Cambridges kicked off their official visit to Paris on Friday, so some coverage is in order.

First things first, though, they celebrated St. Patrick's Day with the Irish Guards.
Sgt Rupert Frere/MOD Crown Copyright 2017
A new Catherine Walker coat and a repeated Lock & Co. hat, and that's all lovely. If I'm being honest, the variations on a dark green coat worn to this engagement so far are all starting to blend together. I'm left wondering how large a section the Royal Coat Museum will need to be devoted to this color, should the Duchess keep up this engagement for many years to come (if she ends up taking it on like the Queen Mother did, let's say).
Will she go full Kermit on us one of these years? Or will she go for something really ~*crazy*~ someday, like...blue. I am not critiquing her choice of color here, you understand, just contemplating the potential hilarity of a museum wing's worth of coats in similar subdued hues amassed for a single annual engagement. Anyway...

Then they jetted off to Paris to start their official visit with a greeting from President Hollande.
Kensington Palace
'Twas better with the hat, methinks. Catherine Walker was from France, by the way, for those seeking a connection.

A complete outfit change was in order for a reception at the British embassy.
This! Is also! Entirely fine. It gets a nod. I'm not a fan of the jewelry (the earrings, at least, are Balenciaga), but it's a pretty unassailable Alexander McQueen black cocktail dress.

Friday's third and final outfit came for a black tie dinner at the embassy.
Sparkly from head to toe! Très glittery. I was hoping she'd squeeze in some of the Queen's diamonds, and indeed she has: diamond chandelier earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Bar Choker Bracelet, both on loan and both worn previously by Kate. Excellent.

Update: Day 2

While not every royal chooses to incorporate nods to the country they're visiting in their sartorial lineup, the Duchess of Cambridge is among those that reliably do, and she followed through on that habit by wearing a French coat and French jewelry for the second day of the trip.
Kensington Palace
She selected a Chanel coat dress that offered a slight dip into the recent bell sleeve trend, and paired it with Cartier jewelry. This is definitely from the shallow end of the Karl Lagerfeld pool, if you will, which was a wise decision for her (advanced Chanel-ing is best left to the Monacos), and it's nice to see her use a purse with a handle for a change. This might be my favorite recent addition to the Royal Coat Museum.
Kensington Palace

The couple then suited up for the RBS Six Nations match between France and Wales.
A team color in the form of a Carolina Herrera coat is my kind of sporty dressing.

And one other update for you: over at the Jewel Vault, we have a feature on those diamond chandelier earrings Kate brought along for this trip. Do click over.

Royal Hats of the Day: March 10

The British royal family were out en masse yesterday with hats in place. They gathered for the dedication of the Iraq and Afghanistan memorial honoring the service and duty of both civilians and military personnel in those conflicts. The Queen led the crowd in vibrant royal blue, and she (and her brooch details) were covered here at the Jewel Vault.

Following in Her Maj's blue footsteps, the Duchess of Cambridge gave this Michael Kors coat its best outing yet by adding blue accessories - most importantly, an actual hat with an actual brim. You know I love it when she kicks up her hat game. (She's actually giving me shades of Crown Princess Mary here, who paired an electric blue hat with a neutral suit once to my great delight. It's a more matchy version, of course, which is Kate's way.)

Royal Family
Meanwhile, the Countess of Wessex also paired an old outfit with a different hat, which does not have the same enhancing effect. I prefer this Azzedine Alaïa dress with the Christmas hat.

Sgt Ross Tilly RAF/UK MoD Crown Copyright 2017
Both the Duchess of Cornwall and Sophie are wearing regimental brooches from The Rifles, since they are each Royal Colonels of different battalions. This is a subdued outfit for Camilla - who manages to make even the biggest hat on the dais look subtle - and is perfectly paired with one of her favorite signature pearl and diamond chokers.

Royal Family
The Princess Royal and the Duchess of Gloucester round us out for the day, doing their usual thing. Although I am left feeling that Anne's sporting the most exuberant hat decoration of them all, which is usually not the usual thing.

Year in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge and Crown Princess Mette-Marit's Best of 2016

Next up in our 2016 close out, we'll take a look at the best outfits of the year from some of the royals we cover here. Royal trips are often gold mines for those great sartorial moments. So take a bow, Canada, because you brought out the best in not one but two of our royal regulars this year.

The Duchess of Cambridge
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, arrived in Canada at the start of their September tour.
There were two Cambridge tours this year, which automatically gives us more best of the year candidates than ever before. I thought I'd go for one of the evening outfits, but in hindsight, I think the Canadian arrival outfit has the most staying power: a superbly tailored Jenny Packham blue ensemble with a maple leaf-adorned hat from Lock & Co. Prim and proper, but lovely in a thoroughly princess-y way. Also, it highlights a jewel on loan from the Queen - that diamond Maple Leaf Brooch - and she is continually delighting me by debuting new loans from the master vault.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit
MCpl Vincent Carbonneau, Rideau Hall
The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway met with the Governor General of Canada at the start of their November tour.
I found this to be a quiet year on the sartorial front for our Norwegian crown princess - I confess, I love her most at huge events like royal weddings, and we were a little short on those this year - but she put together a lovely Canadian tour. The delight of seeing Mette-Marit in red is an easy pick in any year, honestly.

What are your picks for the best of 2016 for these ladies?

The Cambridges in Canada: Your Open Post

And they're off! The Cambridge family has landed in Victoria, Canada, kicking off a week long tour.
You knew it was only a matter of time before William converted them all to the blue suit brigade. The Duchess is handling her part of the family coordination scheme in a blue Jenny Packham dress, with maple leaves all around (a blue Lock & Co. hat adorned with maple leaves - this is the same designer that did 2011's red maple leaf hat - plus the diamond Maple Leaf Brooch on loan again from the Queen). Really lovely.

We'll be checking in with the tour periodically over the next week on the blog. For those of you that want to discuss the whole thing as it happens, you're welcome to use this post throughout. As always, mind the comment policy and enjoy!

Royal Flashback of the Day: September 23

The Cambridge family lands in Canada on Saturday! Yes, we will have a weekend post once we see what sort of sartorial selection the arrival brings.

But first, let's flashback one more time to their 2011 visit to the country, and one more frequent royal tour feature: the good old flag interpretation.

By tsaiproject [CC BY 2.0], via Wikimedia Commons
A white Reiss dress (repeated from the couple's engagement photographs) and a red maple leaf-adorned Lock & Co. hat made for an unmistakable interpretation of the Canadian flag for Canada Day festivities, with the Queen's diamond Maple Leaf Brooch added in for good measure. This outfit seems a bit...contrived, I want to say, but that's a silly thing to say when any outfit echoing a country's colors and/or motifs is by nature at least a little bit contrived. Still, some outfits seem to work a little harder at it than others.

This outfit, on the other hand, was a nod instead of a blinking arrow. A red Catherine Walker coat and a repeat of that loaner brooch closed out the Canadian leg of the tour. Can't ever go too wrong with the classics, can you?

So, what's to come? We'll find out this weekend. See you then.

Royal Coat of the Day: February 19

The Duchess of Cambridge dusted off a treasured artifact from her burgeoning royal coat museum yesterday.
Video: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge bid farewell to the RAF Search and Rescue Force in Anglesey
I do love a good red coat. And the Duchess has styled this one in a few different ways, so I'm in the mood for a little review of this coat over the years. Shall we? We shall...

2011: Visit to Denmark
First spotted in 2011, when the Cambridges teamed up with Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary to visit a UNICEF facility, the coat was originally worn with a separate belt and some tall boots for a cozy covered look.

In 2012, the belt from the coat model appeared for a rugby match in Wales (an event without much of a full length view, so I'm skipping a pic. Click here to see).

2013: London Poppy Day
2013 gave us a better view, with black tights and black pumps.

2016: Yesterday's Anglesey engagement
And now the coat is trying its hand at a hat pairing. Chocolate brown accessories and a ponytail freshen up the repeat.

The question is...which coat styling is your fave? Moi, I love the way a tall boot brings out the military details of this coat - the belt, the high collar, the epaulettes on the shoulders - and highlighting that structure makes the look.

(That brown Lock & Co. hat has been worn even more often than the coat, actually. But for my money, its appearance at last year's Irish Guards parade can't be beat.)

Royal Outfit of the Day: February 8

The Duchess of Cambridge was back in action yesterday, attending a 75th anniversary service for the RAF Air Cadets. She took over as their Honorary Air Commandant in December as a replacement for the Duke of Edinburgh, who had filled the position for over 60 years.
She made the perfect outfit choice for her first engagement in her new position, her repeated Alexander McQueen coat giving a nod to the belted blue uniforms without dipping into mimicry. She also wore a Lock & Co. hat, although all eyes were on one other major accessory.

The Air Cadets Dacre Brooch, as it is known, is made with diamonds and other gemstones, and is massive because it was originally used for another purpose. Per the RAF:
The Dacre Brooch is the highest award any female Air Cadet can achieve. In 1979, Mrs Elizabeth Dacre MBE TD JP presented to the Air Training Corps the dress sword of her late husband, Air Commodore G B Dacre CBE DSO DL RAF to be presented to the “ATC Cadet of the Year.” With the advent of girls in 1982, Mrs Dacre presented the Corps with a diamond brooch mounted on a sash, for presentation to the best female cadet.
The brooch was awarded annually until last year, when it was decided that a sword would be awarded instead, just like the male cadets receive. That works out rather well, now that they have the Duchess on board to wear the brooch for events related to the Air Cadets. It's one of the biggest regimental brooches I've seen in use in the royal family, and she showcased it well on a simple coat.

In other news, Kate's message of support for Children's Mental Health Week is out.
And this repeated Rebecca Taylor suit rounds out the run of outfits both blue and universally appropriate.

British Royal Outfits of the Day: March 20 (Updated)

While I've been in a state visit coma, assorted Windsors have been doing their thing. Time to play catch up, y'all!
Will and Kate made their annual St. Patrick's Day visit to the Irish Guards, an event more about shamrocks and giant dogs and uniforms with frock coats than about other clothes.
But since "sartorial" is right in the name of the blog and all, I will duly report that Kate was in a repeated Lock & Co. hat and a new Catherine Walker coat. All brown, and while that is by its very nature not the most exciting of colors, this was quite elegant and she looked great.
The Duchess had another engagement this week too, for which she wore a new ASOS maternity dress and a repeated black coat with ruffle trim (by her mysterious "independent dressmaker," apparently).
And this was supremely cute. Polka dots are the best. I hope she went home and twirled, like this model's apparently about to do. Polka dots deserve a twirl.

Chaz and Cams embarked on their U.S. visit, which kicked off with a few meetings (oh hello there President Obama, Uncle Joe), a bit of sight seeing, and some general tourist schmoozing.
This geometric trim deal is a great outfit on the Duchess of Cornwall, no? It's from Bruce Oldfield. It didn't look quite so clean with her scarf and that fur-trimmed black hat she's been living in of late, so we don't have to look at those pics. Problem solved.
This evening reception dress is also Oldfield, but I'm mostly interested in the fact that she's rocking a cape and a selection from her magnificent collection of pearl chokers. (Those things would pull my attention in almost every situation, to be fair.)

And finally we have Prince Harry, who launched Walking With The Wounded's trek around Britain this week. Harry's got a lot going on now, what with leaving the army and all that, but I think we can all agree that the most important thing is that he continues to look really good in casual gear. #priorities

P.S.: Since we're catching up with the Windsors, let me tell you that it has been a jolly week at the Jewel Vault too. Highlights: William and QEII had a little Take Your Grandson to Work Day (for which she wore a Cambridge emerald brooch just to give those of us on the Brooch Identification Squad a chuckle), and Her Maj got a canine guard of honor, which is THE BEST.

Update: Here's Cams on the last day of the U.S. trip.
She made some new friends in Kentucky in an outfit from Dior (oh la la) and the newest addition to her pearl choker collection, one with an Art Deco sapphire clasp.
And here is an evening engagement during the trip that I missed (per the caption, it's the International Conservation Caucus Foundation Gala where Charles was presented with the ICCF Teddy Roosevelt Award for Exceptional Leadership in Conservation, March 19):
And how could I miss this one - that's my very favorite of Camilla's pearl chokers! Oh, that thing makes me happy every time I see it. So glad she brought that to the U.S. with her.

Royal Races of the Day: March 12 (Updated)

Hats, anyone?
The Cheltenham Festival races are on, and you can always count on a Zara Phillips sighting. And that Zara sighting will typically be in a dark neutral (check) and a small hat with some sort of froofy embellishment (check check). That tall collar sure is handy for shrinking down and going incognito, though.
A little pattern to liven up the game on day 2, and I do like any sort of white/black thing. She coordinates well in her check with the Duchess of Cornwall, who also put in an appearance yesterday:
This is really all part of her uniform, and I can't disagree with that. A nice fit, and that soft green scarf is a great color for her. And her standard fur-trimmed hats, well...
...I sure do like her daughter Laura's red hat, is what I would say about that. (Son Tom was also there, just on her other side.)

Speaking of people that enjoy horse racing...don't question the segue...the Princess Royal was at a reception at Buckingham Palace, and this is noteworthy:
Noteworthy because is that a sparkly version of a Cosby sweater, or what? Discuss. (P.S.: Check the scalloped shoes too.)

UPDATE:
Day 3 of the festival is upon us, and these two hats are my favorites yet! Exclamation point!
Lady Gabriella Windsor showed up in this vibrant blue hat, which I adore. This shade of blue as an accent is just one of my favorite things, can't be helped.
And Zara was there again in another shade of blue that I happen to adore. The luxury of her fur wrap and my favorite hat on her in some time is checking all the right boxes.
The color's a little duller here, but still a win in my book.

Week in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge, 27 May-5 June

  1. Attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace, 29 May, repeating her Emilia Wickstead dress from the sovereigns' jubilee lunch and adding a Jane Corbett hat.
  2. a) At the Thames River Pageant, 3 June, in b) Alexander McQueen with a Lock & Co. hat.
  3. a) Attending the Diamond Jubilee Concert, 4 June, in b) a Whistles dress with a McQueen jacket.
  4. The Jubilee Thanksgiving Service, 5 June, in McQueen again with a Jane Taylor hat. Much as I loved how she rocked the red at the Thames pageant, this final elegant turn is my favorite jubilee appearance from Kate. Which one did you like best?

Royal Fashion Awards: The Thames River Pageant

A landmark celebration for the Diamond Jubilee today: a flotilla of 1,000 boats on the Thames in a magnificent parade for Her Majesty. It was cold and rainy, but do you think that stopped our fair royals from turning out in style? No!

Best Diamond Girl
Queen Elizabeth
A one of a kind outfit for a one of a kind event! Made of course by Angela Kelly (and reported to have taken a year to plan and create), this is one impressive description: white bouclé with a silk organza frill, threaded with silk ribbon and embroidered with gold, silver and ivory paillettes with Swarovski crystal embellishment. The hat, including hand dyed feathers, sweeps up to make sure everyone can see Her Majesty’s smiling face – and to echo the waves of the Thames. And to top it off, she pinned the Jardine Star Brooch on her shoulder. I thought she looked gorgeous.

Best Queen Mum Impression
The Duchess of Cornwall
What do you get when you let Philip Treacy's brain run wild in the late Queen Mother's hat collection? This, methinks. Her long Anna Valentine coat in cream with lovely detailing is just a touch more elegant, though.

Best Use of Red
The Duchess of Cambridge
Taking full advantage of the one day in the year when red is actually the wallflower color choice (seriously, did you see that boat?), Catherine rocked her crimson McQueen. Bonus points for the Strathearn tartan scarf in her hand (she’s the Countess of Strathearn) and for the seafaring brooch with twin silver dolphins given to her by the Royal Navy Submarine Service, of which her hubby is Commodore in Chief. (So now we have polar bears and dolphins…what will be next in the Duch’s zoo-themed brooch collection? Crossing my fingers for a sloth.)

Best Spirit
All These Ladies
Left to right: the Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and the Duchess of Gloucester (Bea and Eug appeared at a street party, then donned coats for the boat)
These ladies just looked like they were having the most fun of all on their boat, waving like maniacs with flags included and capturing everything with their mobiles. (Precisely what I would do and so would you - don't lie.) Must be good to draw the party boat assignment. So we’ll reward that, since a lot of what I see here is more worthy of a worst dressed list, I’m afraid.

Best in Bundled Up
Princess Michael of Kent

Can’t knock a girl for dressing for the cold and wet weather! You go on, Marie Christine.

Best in Kids
Lady Louise Windsor
L to R: Lady Louise Windsor, Viscount Severn (children of the Earl and Countess of Wessex)
Flags and Union Jack colors? Perfect!

Best in Uniform
Everybody!
L to R: the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry, the Earl of Wessex
L to R: the Duke of York, the Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, Prince Michael of Kent, the Duke of Gloucester
I can’t be forced to pick a favorite today, you know what shiny things do to my attention span and LOOK at all those medals. I was especially delighted to see William back in his RAF uniform after several appearances in his Irish Guards uniforms, though I can’t help but wish he would have made it an occasion for his Navy uniform (my favorite of them all).

Who do you say wins this river pageant?

Week in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge, 11-19 March

  1. a and b) Visiting the women's Olympic hockey team, 15 March. Look! Cambridge No. 1 rides again! And I like her patriotic little outfit with the Team GB Paralympic scarf, even though I saw it compared to a flight attendant somewhere and can't get that out of my head.
  2. Visiting Dulwich Picture Gallery with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, 15 March. Doubling up on the engagements, and clearly feeling one colorful turn a day is plenty. (I kid, but I do prefer this one to her last Orla Kiely.)
  3. Presenting shamrocks to the Irish Guards for St. Patrick's Day, 17 March. Yay for Emilia Wickstead! I love her - she was even one of my dark horse hopes to be chosen as The Wedding Dress Designer.
  4. Opening a new facility (and making her first public speech) for EACH hospices, 19 March, wearing a dress also worn by her mother... and yes, this is exactly the dress one's mum would also wear, if you know what I mean.

Week in Review: The Duchess of Cambridge, 4-10 March

  1. Tagging along on the kickoff for the queen's Diamond Jubilee tour in Leicester with Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, 8 March, in LK Bennett with a Lock & Co. hat. Love this. LOVE. Good hair, good hat, très chic, teal is yummy, etc.
