Sunday Tidbits for June 5: Two New Friends, One Missing Tie

This week's dose of cuteness comes not from more adorable official portraits, for a change. It comes from wee animals. So, totally different.

--Accompanied by her entourage (including mom Princess Madeleine and dad Chris O'Neill), Princess Leonore made her first official visit to her duchy, Gotland. She frolicked in a picturesque meadow and made friends with Haidi the pony, her christening gift from the duchy, before stealing on one of Haidi's carrots for a little snack. [Hello]

--Crown Princess Mette-Marit's been traveling on her scenic Literature Train, which she's done for the past couple years. A train car is converted to a library open to all, and the point is to encourage a love of reading at every stop. She has tiaras and her own bookmobile. Mette-Marit knows how to live. [NRK]

--I would very much like to swoop around in Queen Rania's dress right here. (It's from Etro. I've had my eye on the coat version - in, you know, an if-I-had-my-own-royal-coat-museum sort of way.)

--Over at the Jewel Vault, busy season is kicking off with a day at the races and a round of guesses for this year's Ascot brooches.

--"Where's your bloody tie?" One could say Prince Harry has just made the unfortunate discovery that not everyone appreciates his more casual approach. Or one could say that - in giving a group of D-Day veterans an opening to tease him as much as they please - he's just discovered the best royal ice breaker yet. [Sun]

--And finally, Princess Leonore isn't the only one making new friends from the animal kingdom. Queen Margrethe's annual summer cruise on the royal yacht is providing her with cuteness opportunities of her own. (No word on whether she stole any of this little piggy's snacks, though.)

Coming up this week: Sweden celebrates National Day, and more...
