Tuesday Tidbits for February 14: Pets and Portraits

Instead of chocolates and flowers, I got you these tidbits:

--Princess Astrid of Norway, sister of King Harald, is celebrating her 85th birthday! The royal family held a dinner for her at the palace and released this lovely group shot:

--An updated portrait published for Princess Astrid's birthday features the princess and her dog Pepita, a Japanese Chin. Why don't we have more official portraits including royal pets, huh? (They also published a gala portrait, but I'm going to save that for our Thursday tiara chat.)

--Here, have some art: “Enlightened Princesses: Caroline, Augusta, Charlotte, and the Shaping of the Modern World” is at the Yale Center for British Art in Connecticut through April 30th. The exhibition will also be at Kensington Palace this summer. [Vogue]

--I love a good mystery: Researchers are trying once again to find a concealed chamber in the tomb of King Tutankhamun, which may or may not contain the remains of Queen Nefertiti. [Chicago Tribune]

--And finally, over at the Jewel Vault: the Queen is back to work (in purple!) and Camilla has remembered that she has a plethora of colored gems at her disposal, bless.
